2014 Imagine Enough for Everyone MLK Day event

Thanks to everyone who came to the Imagine Enough for Everyone event at the Urbandale Library today! We collected over 1,900 items for the Urbandale Food Pantry (including the items brought to the Library’s Food for Fines program after 2pm)! The final totals are: 1197 food items, 471 personal care items, 187 knitted scarves (etc.), 50 colored notes, 11 pledges for action, and $267 in monetary donations. Over 155 people attended this year’s event between 9am to 2pm!

Thank you to the many volunteers who pitched in to help make this event a success! We had 10 Americorps/VISTA volunteers–some with the Dept. of Natural Resources, one with the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, and one with Metro Arts. And we had 3 volunteers from Des Moines University’s AMA Student Association. In addition to staffing volunteers, several knitters also came and knitted during the event.

Thanks again to all, and be sure to mark your calendar for next year! 🙂
