2015 Imagine Enough for Everyone MLK Day event

Thanks to everyone who came to the Imagine Enough for Everyone event at the Urbandale Library this year! We collected 1,223 items for the Urbandale Food Pantry (including the items brought to the Library’s Food for Fines program after 2pm)! The final totals are: 699 food items, 377 personal care items, 147 knitted scarves (etc.), and $392.60 in monetary donations. Over 129 people attended this year’s event between 9am to 2pm!

We had great interest in the coloring activities, and had a few people pledge to take action this year to confront hunger and food insecurity. We enjoyed having knitters on site during the event, and loved looking at all of the beautiful hand-knitted items that knitters donated. And we welcomed some no-sew, no-knit scarf makers who made some lovely soft and warm fleece scarves. Thank you all!

Thank you to the many volunteers who pitched in to help make this event a success, especially to the Pantry volunteers who answered the call a week ago! We couldn’t make the event work without you!

And as always, a big thanks to the Urbandale Public Library for opening their meeting rooms for our event, and helping with logistics as needed. The Library is a great partner!
